Shopping
There are numerous shopping areas within an hour of Athy such as Carlow, Kilkenny, Naas, Newbridge and the fabulous Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and of course Dublin City Centre.

Angling
The town is a terminal point for a branch of the Grand Canal, which along with the River Barrow offers ideal opportunities for fishing, canoeing and pleasure boat cruising.
The angler has a choice of many trout and salmon or coarse fisheries. Athy is located 8 miles from the angling centre of Vicarstown.
Game anglers will find good trout and salmon. Licences are required to fish for salmon or Trout. Course anglers can enjoy excellent bream fishing from late April to October. Rudd are in plentiful supply in summer and pike fishing is good all year round.

Adventure Sports
There are a range of adventure activities only a short drive from the hotel ranging from Quad Biking to outdoor fun parks.
Walking
Many of the riverbank areas are open to walkers as are a number of canal walks and these can be taken in whole or in part. There are also forest walks at Blackwood. There are a number of famous walks within easy reach of The Clanard Court such as South Leinster Way, Mount Leinster, Blackstairs Mountains and The Ridge, Stradbally and Saint Fiachra's Garden.

Cruising
The Barrow River provides many exciting activities fro both the passive and the active water enthusiasts. It is probably one of the least know, yet magical inland waterways in Europe and it meanders through a scenic valley steeped in History and Heritage.

Equestrian
County Kildare is the centre of the horse breeding and training industry in Ireland. Most of the stud farms and training establishments are located in the County and there are excellent opportunities for hunting, racegoing and riding.

Gardens
Ireland is famous for some spectacular gardens and many of these are within easy reach of Athy.
